Global EM Research

Developing the GEM evidence base is another major focus of the Division. Dr. Noste has ongoing projects related to EMS at the US-Mexico border. She also works with international partners to study disaster preparedness, management, and response and the development of EMS systems in low and middle-income countries. With his focus on public health and humanitarianism, Dr. Bruno has ongoing research projects related to forced migration, human rights abuses, and mental health. This work is predominantly focused on the conflict affected populations of Myanmar and the Thai-Burmese border and U.S.-Mexico Border in collaboration with UCSD’s School of Public Health faculty.  Dr. Mills research focuses on the intersections between health and human rights, utilizing critical frameworks to elucidate the social and structural determinants of health and health program implementation.
