Bryan Merte, MD

Bryan grew up in Wappingers Falls, NY, where he was first introduced to medicine while working as a Physical Therapy Aide. He went on to earn a degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Spanish at Cornell University. Following graduation, he served with AmeriCorps in South Central Los Angeles before returning to New York for medical school.

He received his MD from the University of Rochester, where he served on the executive board of the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) and completed the Latino Health Pathway certification.

In 2020, Bryan couples-matched with his fiancée to the UCLA Olive View/Ronald Reagan Emergency Medicine program, where he completed residency with distinction in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS).

After a year working as an attending at several community hospitals across San Diego, he returned to academics and ultrasound, joining UC San Diego as a Clinical Ultrasound Fellow.

Outside of medicine, Bryan enjoys hiking, photography, watching sports, discovering new food and drink spots, and spending time with his dog Ruby and his fiancée Leanne—your friendly neighborhood toxicology fellow."
