What is the Fellowship recruitment timeline?

The application deadline is Friday, August 25, 2023. 

Interviews will be held Wednesday, September 27th and Wednesday, October 4th, 2023, 8AM - 2PM PST.

What are the submission guidelines?

  1. Register on the NRMP website: http://www.nrmp.org/applicant-registration/
  2. Email your CV and a personal statement to the EMS Fellowship Program Administrator, Mae Malong at mmalong@health.ucsd.edu.
  3. Submit 3 letters of recommendations to Mae Malong as well. One letter must be from your residency program director. 

What is the duration of the fellowship?

The EMS Fellowship is a one-year, ACGME accredited program.

How many fellows will be accepted?

We generally offer a slot for 1 candidate per year of the fellowship. On rare occasions, a second slot may be available.

What are the requirements for eligibility?

Prior to entry into the program, the fellow must have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited residency or an RCPSC-accredited residency located in Canada, excluding transitional year programs.  Although the primary training site is UC San Diego Health, rotations are also offered at Rady Children’s Hospital, Veterans Administration Medical Center, San Diego, and El Centro Regional Medical Center.

Does the fellowship program accept international applicants?

International medical graduates are eligible to apply to the EMS/Disaster Medicine Fellowship if they are US Board eligible in emergency medicine and graduated from an ACGME accredited residency program.
